Women Empowerment Conference: The value of women in Building the Family

In a bid to address crucial issues surrounding women’s roles within families and society at large, the Hands of Compassion Rwanda (HACORWA) organized a groundbreaking women empowerment conference. With the theme “The Value of Women in Building the Family,” the event happened on March 20, 2024 in Gahanga sector aimed to educate, inspire, and empower women to recognize their worth and capabilities in nurturing healthy family dynamics.

Attended by 52 Women from different backgrounds, The conference featured three insightful discussions led by distinguished speakers who shed light on various aspects of women’s roles within the family unit. Reverend Seriene Nterinanziza initiated the event with a poignant exploration of domestic violence prevention. She emphasized the diverse forms of conflict that women encounter, ranging from emotional and physical violence to psychological abuse. she underscored the importance of addressing these issues comprehensively.  Rev. Nterinanziza’s powerful message resonated with the audience as she underscored the need to combat such violence and outlined strategies for empowerment and resilience.

Following this, Rev. Dr. Xiaol Yang delved into the resolution of conflicts, emphasizing the significance of approaching disagreements with empathy, humility, and a commitment to understanding. Through practical examples and role-playing exercises, Dr. Xiaol Yang demonstrated effective conflict resolution techniques, highlighting the importance of maintaining focus on the issue at hand while fostering open communication and mutual respect. Attendees were encouraged to embrace a mindset of problem-solving and self-awareness, essential for building harmonious relationships within families and communities.

The conference culminated in a powerful presentation by Rev. Dr. Mia Chang, who addressed the intrinsic value of women and the challenges they face in society. Despite notable advancements, Dr. Chang acknowledged the prevalence of abuse and discrimination against women, which often leads to feelings of isolation and diminished self-worth. Through her empowering message, Dr. Chang instilled a sense of resilience and solidarity among attendees, reminding them of their inherent dignity and divine worth.

In an interview with the media, Rev. Seriene Nterinanziza, the CEO of HACORWA, emphasized the significance of such conferences in empowering women and promoting holistic well-being. She articulated HACORWA’s commitment to supporting women and youth, both physically and mentally, by providing platforms for education, advocacy, and empowerment, citing the conference as a testament to their dedication to this cause.
